Assessment Process
Peer evaluation process:
Upon the paper submission, within the established application dates, the author is informing of the evaluation process and the conditions for application. The conditions for application are the following:
- The submitted paper must not have been previously published.
- The paper must nothave been submitted simultaneously to any other publication or journal.
- The paper must comply with the general rules of Arqueología y Patrimonio AyP
- The author must have been informed about the reviewing process and the possible outcomes of it.
Once received, the papers are evaluated by the editorial board to determine if they have all the basic requirements (correct quoting guidelines, coherence, redaction and relevance to the Journal theme). The papers that do not comply with the requirements are rejected; and the author will be informed about the cause of rejection.
After the first revision is finished, the selected papers will be transferred to two reviewers, who will decide if the article complies with the methodological, theoretical, and archaeological requirements for being published in the Journal. In this process, the name of the jury and the authors are maintained anonymous.
The outcome of the evaluation will be notified to the authors. The paper can be accepted without modifications, accepted if modified according to the issued feedback, or rejected. However, the reject does not imply that with the convenient adjustments the possibility of appearing in a new call is denied.
When the jury’s concepts disagree, the paper will be read and discussed by staff from the editorial board or a third jury. If the paper is accepted but some changes are required to be made, the jury’s feedback must be attended by the author, who must make the proper modifications within the deadline stated by the editorial board.
The editor is the responsible of the finals decisions about the texts presented for evaluation. Generally, the evaluation process takes minimum two or three months. The authors will be notified immediately after taking the final decision about the manuscript.
Publishing process
During the publishing process, and if necessary, the authors will be contacted by editorial board staff for inquiry solving and information rectification. This will be done mainly through e-mail. The Journal will have the right to make minor modifications to the text, concerning style correction. Text edition and publishing process do not incur any charges to the authors.
If selected, the author will sign the Revista Arqueología y Patrimonio AyP Use License, in which the author will maintain their property rights over the paper and will authorize the Journal to use and publish it. All serial publications from ICANH use a Creative Commons License – Attribution-Non Commercial-NoDerivs 4.0.
