This longitudinal qualitative study explores how moderate-income households in Chile cope with inflation. Based on 120 interviews with 40 households across three cities, the analysis is organized around two main themes: supports and strategies. First, it examines the material supports, including wages and family networks, that allow households to manage rising prices. Then, it analyzes the strategies households implement to adapt, such as cutting expenses, adjusting consumption patterns, and seeking additional income. The results highlight the variety of strategies that households adopt depending on their material supports, support networks, financial commitments, and economic burdens. This work contributes to anthropological literature on inflation by emphasizing the importance of addressing this phenomenon from a situated perspective, considering not only macroeconomic fluctuations but also the everyday experiences of people facing inflation in their households.
